3 Tips For Maintaining Your Porcelain Veneers

Getting porcelain veneers can be a wonderful thing. Veneers give you a beautiful smile that you can be proud of. However, just as with regular teeth, you have to make sure that you take good care of your veneers. This article is going to discuss 3 tips for maintaining your porcelain veneers.

Use An Electric Toothbrush

One great way to ensure that your veneers are able to stay in the best condition possible is so to use an electric toothbrush to clean them. While cleaning them in general is going to be very important, it is almost as important to make sure that you are cleaning them without using too much force. When you use a regular toothbrush, it can sometimes be difficult for you to gauge at what pressure and what speed you should be brushing your teeth. This can turn into an even bigger issue if you are not brushing mindfully, but are instead just brushing quickly to get your teeth clean. However, when you use an electric toothbrush, the pace at which the bristles move is going to be set for you, thus allowing you to safely and properly clean your veneers each time that your brush them.

Use A Mouth Guard

Your veneers are  an investment in yourself, and because of this, you are going to want to do all that you can to protect your investment. One way to ensure that your veneers are protected is to wear a mouth guard. You are going to want to wear a mouth guard whenever you are playing sports that could potentially result in you getting hit in the mouth. You may also need to wear a mouth guard at night if you have any issues with grinding your teeth. This will ensure that your veneers are protected from being knocked out, ground down, or otherwise damaged.

Avoid Drinks And Foods With Dyes In Them

If at all possible, you are going to want to avoid eating or drinking things that have dyes in them. These dyes are going to be more likely to stain your teeth and otherwise discolor them. While you veneers are going to be able to withstand these stains to some degree, they can still become stained eventually, just like your normal teeth. Avoiding things like coffee, tea, wine, colored jello, dark soda, etc., is going to help you to keep your veneers just as white as the day that you had them put in.
